14 November 2008 – E.ON, one of the UK’s leading power and gas companies, has today announced it has signed up to the OneVu service, giving its customers the time-saving convenience of being able to view and pay their E.ON bills through the secure environment of their online bank.
The move underpins the company’s continued commitment to improving the service it offers to its customers.
Arslan Sharif, Head of Propositions & E-Commerce at E.ON, said: “At E.ON, we’re always looking at ways of improving the service we offer to our customers.
“By encouraging our customers to sign up to online billing through their bank, we’re offering them the choice of an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional paper bills. And through this new OneVu service, we hope to not only help them do their bit for the environment, but also help make it easier for them to manage their bills through one website – their online bank.”
E.ON supplies millions of electricity and gas customers in the UK, and residential customers will have access to the OneVu service online immediately if they bank with Lloyds TSB, NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland; other banks will follow over the coming months.
To access the service, all they need to do is log into their existing bank account and find ‘Bill manager’ at Lloyds TSB and ‘Bill management’ at RBS and NatWest to get a consolidated view of all their bills and statements whilst online ‘at the bank’.
Miles Quitmann, CEO at OneVu, said: “The OneVu service allows customers to view, track and pay all their bills from one familiar, secure place – their online bank. Presenting bills while customers are online ‘at the bank’ allows millions of online bank customers to access statement summary information and a secure click-through to the individual biller’s portal – without the need to remember further usernames and passwords.”
In the UK a large number of forward thinking billing organisations are already responding to this powerful opportunity and over 30 brands have joined the service which is set to have over 350 million bills under management by the end of the year. Other new services will be launched later this year including the planned mobile phone top-up service via the Internet banks.
Editor’s note:
OneVu is the UK’s first service which lets people see, track and pay all their bills from the familiar, secure environment of their online bank. It is a joint venture between VocaLink, which processes over 4 billion financial transactions each year, and CheckFree Corporation, now part of Fiserv.
E.ON is one of the UK’s leading power and gas companies – generating and distributing electricity, and retailing power and gas – and is part of the E.ON group, the world's largest investor-owned power and gas company. Our retail business supplies around 5.5 million electricity and gas customers, covering domestic, SME and industrial. E.ON also offers central heating and boiler care.
