Telewest Broadband signs with OneVu

15th August 2005 - UK cable company Telewest Broadband, which provides digital television, broadband Internet and telephone services, has signed up to the OneVu solution in a move designed to meet customer demand for self serve technology and to boost efficiency.

The decision follows market research undertaken earlier this year, in which Telewest Broadband identified that its customers, who were currently using Internet banking, saw e-billing as the logical next step. The benefits of the OneVu solution, which saves time and is free to use, will ensure interaction with the cable company is convenient for its customers.

OneVu is the UK’s first consolidated electronic bill presentment and payment service which lets people see, track and pay their bills from the familiar, secure environment of their online bank.

Later this year all Telewest Broadband’s 1.8 million residential customers will be able register online for the OneVu service. I t is estimated that the cable company will benefit from cost savings of over £1 million as a result of a reduction in administration and increased efficiencies.

Sean Risebrow, head of billing at Telewest Broadband, explains: “The decision to sign up with OneVu is part of our overall billing strategy and is underpinned by our commitment to customer service. We have offered online bill viewing and payment from our own website for the past two years and believe the OneVu service will enhance our service by enabling our customers to pay their bills, through a single interface, via their bank. The technology, supported by Voca and Checkfree, gives consumers secure connections and peace of mind.”
